Avatar Impressions
Measure avatar viewport visibility, viewability percentages, screen real estate engagement, and trigger delays.
Overview
An Avatar Impression measures when the visual character is genuinely seen by a website visitor. Tracking impressions allows teams to evaluate whether the avatar is prominently positioned or hidden behind competing page elements.
Impression Definition & Thresholds
To prevent false counts from background tabs or hidden containers, Asiyst enforces the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) viewability standard:
- Viewport Coverage: At least 50% of the avatar canvas must enter the visible viewport.
- Dwell Time: The avatar must remain in view for at least 1.0 continuous seconds.
- Tab Focus: The browser tab must be active and in the foreground.
- Deduplication: One impression is recorded per page load session. Continuous scrolling does not inflate counts.
Key Impression Metrics
| Metric | Definition | Benchmark Target |
|---|---|---|
| Total Impressions | Raw count of viewable avatar page loads | Matches total page views |
| Viewability Rate | (Impressions / Total Page Views) * 100 | > 85% |
| Impression-to-Click (CTR) | (Avatar Clicks / Impressions) * 100 | 4.5% – 9.0% |
| Time to First Impression | Median seconds before avatar enters view | < 500ms |
Optimizing Impression-to-Engagement Rate
If your impression rate is high but click-through engagement is low:
- Enable Proactive Greeting Bubbles: Configure the avatar to display a friendly contextual speech bubble after 4 seconds (e.g.,
"Need help choosing a plan?").
- Adjust Avatar Scale: Increase avatar canvas size from default 120px to 160px in Avatar Studio > Sizing.
- Change Corner Anchors: Test moving the avatar from bottom-right to bottom-left if your site has a conflicting feedback button or live-chat widget.
